The other thing the pill does is that it increases sex hormone binding globulin which lowers levels of free T3, which causes tissue level hypothyroidism that does not show up with a TSH test. So, many women on the pill have a decreased metabolism, gain weight, have brain fog, depression, poor sleep, and a low libido.
